McMorris Rodgers on partisan CLEAN Future Act: We need to work together
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Republican Leader on the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, released the following statement on the partisan CLEAN Future Act.
“Clearly, our climate is changing, but for too long, this debate in Congress has pitted Republicans and Democrats against each other. We need to work together. Unfortunately, this bill from the Majority is another partisan attempt that is dead on arrival. We are going to solve the climate crisis through innovation and free-market solutions, not job-killing mandates or taxes that make American families bear a terrible financial burden,” said McMorris Rodgers. “Without big government forcing them to do it, we’re already seeing private sector innovation and accountability. Microsoft just announced plans to be carbon negative by 2030. We need to encourage this type of personal responsibility and support more American innovation that we can export to the rest of the world so other countries are empowered to reduce their emissions as well. America led the world in the development of traditional energy sources. Now, we can lead the world in clean energy technology and other climate solutions to win the future.”
NOTE: Last year, Cathy laid out in a joint op-ed how Republicans are leading and can continue to lead on free-market climate solutions that get results. In case you missed it, you can read it by
